Because of the St. Patrick’s Day celebration in Savannah on Saturday, March 16, there will be NO REHEARSALS the weekend of March 16 & 17. Instead, ensembles will hold make-up rehearsals on Wednesday, March 13.
On March 9th, the Saturday ensembles will rehearse in a new location. DSE, SSE, LSE and RYO will meet at First Presbyterian Church, located at 520 Washington Avenue.
Congratulations to violinist Julia Sellman, the winner of the 2019 AYO Young Artist Concerto Competition. She will perform the first movement of the Sibelius Violin Concerto with the Armstrong Youth Orchestra during our spring concert, April 29th.
Students and parents of Debut Strings, Lyric Strings, and Serenade Strings – we have an important rehearsal schedule change to announce! The previously cancelled rehearsal on Saturday, Feb. 23 is now back on the schedule! Please plan to rehearse on Saturday, Feb. 23 at your normal place and time. There will be NO makeup rehearsal on Feb. 20th.
Welcome orchestra students! This weekend, January 19 and 20, marks the beginning of our new semester. All rehearsals take place in the Fine Arts Building on the Armstrong Campus of Georgia Southern University.
Orchestra rehearsals will resume the weekend of January 19-20. We’ll post a detailed rehearsal schedule soon, but here are some important dates to mark on your calendars.
As a fundraiser for the Armstrong Youth Orchestra, we are pre-selling flower bouquets and GiGi’s “Symphony” Cupcakes, to be presented at our Fall Concert on November 18. DEADLINE for pre-orders will be at the dress rehearsal.

On Saturday, October 20, 2018, all Saturday ensembles will rehearse at First Presbyterian Church of Savannah. All rehearsals will be held at their usual times. Everyone must bring a music stand!
The Armstrong Youth Orchestra is performing a concert in November as part of the “Music With a Mission” series at First Presbyterian Church of Savannah. The concert is free, and an offering will be collected to support continuing hurricane relief efforts in Puerto Rico.
