Scales and arpeggios
All scales and arpeggios are to be MEMORIZED. Scales listed are your starting note. Do not transpose to concert pitch. The GMEA pattern is acceptable, two octaves is preferred except where noted differently. The GMEA pattern is acceptable.
Trumpet: Major Scales on D and E (one octave), G (two octaves), with arpeggios
Chromatic Scale 2 octaves on G
Solo Piece (played without accompaniment)
Students should choose a solo piece that demonstrates their best ability. Please discuss this with your band director or your private teacher. Your GMEA Lyrical and/or Technical etude from last year would be a good choice.

Students will be asked to sight-read one or two examples at the RYO level.

Trumpet (your starting note): Major Scales on A, B major (2 octaves), B harmonic minor, with arpeggios. Chromatic Scale 2 octaves on Bb.
