Amanda Barrow, 2007 Concerto Competition Winner
Amanda Barrow is the 2007 Concerto Competition winner, performing the Mercadante – Concerto in E minor, Allegro Maestoso on flute.
Amanda Barrow, principal flute of the AAYO, is the daughter of Alan and Gale Barrow. She has studied privately for more than three years with Lorraine Jones. Amanda was chosen last November as the winner of the 2007 AAYO Concerto Competition. She is finishing her Junior year at the Savannah Arts Academy where she is an honor roll student and principal flute of the Silverwinds Concert Band, under the direction of Michael Hutchinson.
She has received the Savannah Friends of Music Summer Camp Scholarship for the last two years as well as the SFM – Mazo Scholarship for private lessons. Last summer Amanda attended the Interlochen Music Camp, (which claims to be the ‘world’s premier summer arts program’) and has recently been granted a partial scholarship to attend the Interlochen Arts Academy where she will finish her senior year of high school. Last March Miss Barrow participated in the GMEA All-State concert band and in June will be participating in the Governor’s Honors Program.
